This is one of my two favorite Batman books this century.
It is an oversized book. Great hardcover. Fantastic paper quality. The artwork is outstanding. Excellent cityscapes, strong facial expressions, vivid action sequences and wonderful interpretations of the characters (his take on Killer Croc is the all-time best). There are moments of humor, but they are appropriate for a Batman book and don't take you out of the story.
Mr. Marini nails character after character: Bruce, Selina, Gordon, Alfred, Joker, and Quinn. All handled perfectly.
Really really great. I hope this wins all kinds of awards.
(it is incredibly rare for me to ever gush like this)
ou cet autre:
This is THE best Batman ever. (...) This is what we commonly call "an instant classic". I honestly can't think of any previous Batman graphic novel that comes even remotely close to being THIS good.
I want Marini to do every Batman story from now till the end of time.
