Angouleme and moi,.
I had been invited by the Angouleme comics festival in december to attend and give a "master" class. I agreed .
it is a 6 hour train ride from my home to Angouleme, but the festival never offered to pay my train fare or offer to find me a hotel room. My French publisher FUTUROPOLIS however stepped in and offered to cover these costs. I was prepared to come and give the class but when I realized they were doing NOTHING to inform the public of the class, what it was , or what I do I realized it would be a big waste of time and money to attend.
They gave plenty of support to the other master class artists,
rightfully so, but I guess they see me as a third class citizen.
FUTUROPOLIS made them aware of their oversight weeks ago but they did nothing to rectify the situation. So I let them know I was not going to attend.
I am sorry for any of you attending who may have heard I was attending and might be disappointed. I am disappointed I won't see you either. But since the Festival did nothing to make the public aware I imagine there will be close to zero attendees feeling much sadness at my absence.
Je n’irai donc pas à Angoulême…
Après avoir été invité au mois de décembre, en dernière minute, par le festival d’Angoulême pour animer une master class le samedi 28 janvier, le festival, à J-3 de mon intervention, n’était toujours pas capable d’afficher sur son site mon nom et mes informations comme participant. Ce qui ne l’a pas empêché d’utiliser un de mes dessins pour une affiche relative à l’exposition Couleur sans ma permission.
Je n’irai donc pas à Angoulême… et je m’en excuse auprès des quelques personnes qui, ayant par miracle été informées de cette master class, s’y sont peut-être inscrits.
J’espère vous rencontrer en d’autres occasions… et en d’autres lieux.
